Humpuckle's kitchen nightmares come to an end (well, almost!)

So after having the floor replaced (see Humpbuckles kitchen nightmares) and replacing the kitchen window (see previous post) we could finally move on to the serious work of redecoration, which began by stripping the hideous wallpaper...

The first coat of paint looked like Dexter was using the room as a slaughter house...
Andrea's dream of a walk in pantry meant a frame needed to be constructed
The beautiful range cooker didn't work to begin with (we hadn't set the clock!)
A mantlepiece and lighting improves the look...
The pantry is constructed....
And the paintwork is finished...
a lot of the furniture we brought over from the UK (thanks go out to ebay for the dressers and Neil and Vicki for the table!)

Everything was going very well and then Habitat delivered the island. Which took us two hours to construct before we found a staple right through the work surface. It is now two days and Habitat have still failed to tell us how they are going to put this right... customer service is it really?

I think that deep red is such a beautiful colour - you are doing an amazing job!
